North African

Our North African oil lamp was produced around the 1st century AD.

The lamp is a brown-red slip "Planta Pedis" oil lamp with a broad border of leaves and curling fronds, ringled handle and charred round spout. It was imprinted with a workshop symbol of a foot imprint on the base. -Beth G. Weingast
