Greek

Our Greek oil lamps were produced between approximately 200-1 BC. Our Greek vessels were produced between approximately the 850-200 BC. Our Greek figural pieces were produced between approximately the 6th century BC - the 1st century AD.

"It was during the Hellenistic period, 400-325 BC [in which] the molded lamps were produced in large quantity and became the standard throughout the ancient world. At first simple, by the 2nd century BC lamps were decorated, embellished and molded on the shoulders. By now typically an oil lamp is round or oval with a slightly protruding nozzle and pierced mouth and center filing hole surrounded by a rim and decorated shoulder. On the opposite side of the nozzle there is a short, stubby lug handle often pierced." -Beth G. Weingast
