"Roman lamps made in Egypt had distinctive images of a frog in relief. Lamps were used for lighting houses, commercial enclaves, public buildings and temple, and hundreds of lamps illuminated religious festivals, sporting events and streets. Found in tombs it is thought lamps were placed to provide light for the dead." -Beth G. Weingast
